“Affected by the long-term significant decline in global demand for ceramic products,” Duravit announced plans to close its Bischwiller factory in Alsace at the end of 2023. The aim was to reduce the number of sanitary ceramics factories in Europe from three to two.

Duravit blames the downturn in the construction industry and the downturn in the construction market.

Since the factory’s sanitary ceramics production line was closed in October, the company has implemented a short-time working system.
