First Sanitary Ceramics Factory to Be Built in Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan is aiming to supply the market with local building materials, according to Kazakhstan Today. By 2025, Kazakhstan will invest more than 1 trillion tenges (14.7 billion yuan) to implement 165 new construction industry projects. This includes flat glass, tiles, sanitary ware, facades, insulation materials and more. The share of imports is expected to fall from 42% to 27% by 2025.

Kazakhstan’s sovereign wealth fund Samruk-Kazyna and Samruk-Kazyna Construction are currently investing in the construction of 23 projects, including joint investments with existing building materials companies. The total cost of the projects is 395 billion tenges (RMB 5.8 billion), of which the share of Samruk-Kazyna Construction Company is 10%, approximately 40 billion tenges (RMB 600 million). The project will be implemented over the period 2022-2024.

Among other things, Nur Sultan will create five key building materials projects. An Italian company is said to be investing in the construction of the first sanitary ceramics factory, which could provide 280 jobs. However, there is also news that the first sanitary ceramics factory is a joint investment by Kazakhstan’s sovereign wealth fund Samruk-Kazyna and Samruk-Kazyna Construction Company and the furniture manufacturer Mebitex Group of Companies in Noor Sultan, in addition to four other joint investments in tiles, doors and windows.

It is reported that the first sanitary ceramics factory in Kazakhstan will invest around 61 billion tenges (RMB 900 million) and can produce 570,000 pieces per year.

The other four projects include a tile factory with an investment of approximately 25 billion tenges (RMB 400 million) and a capacity of 3 million square meters per year.
