Kohler’s Indonesian subsidiary PT Kohler Manufacturing Indonesia has invested a total of 1.45 trillion rupiah (about 7.25 billion yuan) in a factory in Indonesia’s West Java province, inilahkoran reported. The investment follows through on its commitment to build a plant announced in 2017. This is Kohler’s largest investment in Indonesia and the country’s 10th sanitary plant.
The plant has started production in January 2022. The factory covers 20 hectares of land with a building area of 65,000 square meters. It mainly produces kitchen and sanitary ceramic sanitary ware with an annual capacity of 1 million units and provides 655 jobs.
In the first half of 2022, Indonesia’s ceramic industry attracted investments totaling 17.7 trillion rupiah. Currently, there are 10 sanitary ceramic industry companies in Indonesia, located in Java and Sumatra. In 2015-2018, the production utilization rate of sanitary ceramics in the country tends to be 89%. However, it decreases to 59% in 2019-2020 due to declining demand and the global economic slowdown caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
