Sampling Results for Plumbing and Sanitary Products

In one published national sampling round, inspectors tested more than 1,000 batches of plumbing and sanitary products across categories including ceramic toilets, smart toilets, non-contact spouts, ceramic cartridge spouts, showers, bathroom furniture, and stainless steel sinks. The overall sampling failure rate was about 15.2%.

By category, reported failure rates varied. Smart toilets had a lower failure rate than some other categories, while non-contact spouts showed a higher failure rate. Ceramic toilets fell between the two. These differences reflect how many moving, electronic, and sealing components each product type contains.
